Quiz Team
The Thomas Crosbie Holdings Irish Examiner Quiz has become a very prestigious annual event with hundreds of secondary schools competing for the lucrative prize.
Trials for the team got under way in late November with over fifty students competing for the precious four places.
The team must consist of two Junior Cert students, two Leaving Cert students and two subs. The team consisted of Padraig McElligott, 2nd year, Barry Garvey 3rd year, Daniel O Flynn 5th year and Martin Fitzgibbon 6th year .The subs were Andrew White 3rd year and Seamus Mc Elligott TY.
The first round got under way on Tuesday 6th December in the Patrician Academy Mallow with the CBS up against St Colmans of Fermoy and CBS Mitchelstown. This was a very close contest with everything to play for going into the final round.
Unfortunately we were pipped at the post into second place by one point. Due to a back door system the CBS will battle on in Mid January to try and progress to the 2nd round proper. Heres to a lengthy campaign after that.
On tuesday January 24th, the team defeated Nagle Rice Secondary School, Doneraile to progress to the second round of the competition, where they will meet St. Colemans College, Fermoy.
