Learning Support/Special Needs
Charleville C.B.S. offers learning support to students who may experience difficulty in English, Irish and Mathematics.
We cater for students who may have fallen behind due to illness, personal difficulties or learning problems. We provide individual attention in small groups, thereby facilitating students to work at a pace suited to their own abilities which they might find difficult to achieve in a normal classroom situation. It promotes a student’s self worth as he is tested at his own pace and level of ability.
Parental approval is always sought before withdrawing students from class and teacher parent contact is always welcomed.
Our special needs department at C.B.S. Charleville caters for students who due to any learning or physical disability may need extra tuition or special arrangements at State Examinations. We welcome any information from prospective parents regarding any physical or learning impairment, which may hinder a student’s, academic achievement. It is a priority of C.B.S. Charleville to ensure that all students are facilitated to achieve their potential.
Parents can participate in the guidance process through either consultation with the guidance counsellor and other school staff and/or attendance at relevant information evenings, relating to subject and career choices
