Welcome

"Education is our challenge and your opportunity"

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the C.B.S. Charleville website. C.B.S. Charleville has a long and proud tradition in both the academic and non-academic aspects of school life, demanding a high level of excellence in all aspects of the curriculum while also encouraging all students to participate in extra curricular activities. The successful introduction of a transition Year programme and a Leaving Certificate Vocational programme in recent years has provided students with solid preparation for the world of work while also opening up a much wider range of career options. Furthermore the refurbishment of our Science facilities and computer room in 2004 has enabled our students to avail of the latest equipment and technology while the school’s recognition as a European Driving License Centre offers students a great opportunity to avail of a much needed qualification in today’s high tech environment.

Spiritual development is a very important part of our school programme. The traditional Christian Brothers philosophy of an “Education in a living Faith” is prioritized at C.B.S. Charleville where students are encouraged to “live out” the gospel values in our school community. We welcome the opportunity to offer a vision of life that has the life and example of Jesus Christ at its core and meaning.

We offer a comprehensive extra-curricular programme thereby providing opportunities for students to involve themselves in a wide range of sports and other school-related activities and to represent their school in inter-school competition. Students are provided also with the opportunity to visit European Countries during our annual school tour thereby facilitating educational and cultural experiences that remain in their memories long after their school days have ended.

Parents play a vitally active role in partnership with the school through representation on the Board of Management as well as a dynamic Parents’ Council. Parents are also invited to meet with the Principal and teachers at certain times during the year. The close co-operation between parents and school plays an important role in the individual success of each student.

We are very proud of the excellent results being achieved each year by our students in the State examinations. A very comprehensive curriculum is provided by a highly qualified, dedicated, enthusiastic and caring teaching staff. We earnestly hope that each student is our school community is where he wants to be and that he is surrounded by the support necessary for him to achieve his potential and to realize his dreams.

Kind Regards,

Thomas Clarke

Principal
